In a revision to a previous story, RPGamer has learned that Blizzard will not be resetting the hardcore Diablo II ladder. The announcement came after an outcry from gamers with characters on the hardcore ladder. The new development also addresses a number of loopholes that would be present in an HC ladder wipe.

A popular idea among fans is that there be two ladders: an "all time" ladder, which stays permanently, and a second ladder that is reset regularly. This allows players with top-notch characters to retain them and preserve their hard work, but allows plenty of opportunity for newcomers to break in to the field, in the resetting ladder.
