Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn is a direct sequel to Path of Radiance and the tenth game in the series, though only the fourth to reach North America. This Nintendo Wii title is no graphical giant, as it looks almost identical to its GameCube predecessor. Gameplay is also fundamentally unchanged with only a few additions such as battle field height being added. If there is nothing extremely innovative about this title, why would it make it among our most anticipated games for the rest of the year? The answer is extremely simple: Fire Emblem is addictive.

"Fire Emblem is a favorite of mine, and though the portable versions remain my top picks, I've been looking forward to a new entry in the series," says reporter Erika "wolfraven80" Lachapelle. She continues, "it's one of the best examples of a tactical RPG out there, with great battles and a strong storyline. I especially like that the support conversations allow you to get to know the extensive cast - a rare feature in a tactical RPG."

The excitement doesn't end there as our main Q&A host, Matt "Wonderslime" Demers shares his thoughts, "...Fire Emblem is simply one of my favorite tactical RPG series, having played and loved its Game Boy Advance and GameCube predecessors. Out of all of the series that I enjoy right now, this game will represent one of the first to make the jump to a next generation console, and I can't wait to see how the game makes use of the Wii's unique capabilities."

Goddess of Dawn shows that addictive gameplay can easily outweigh a lack of graphical improvements if the foundation is solid. I guess this series is one of the greatest examples of the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Look for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn this November on the Nintendo Wii.
