News Explosion!

October 28th, 2002
Updater on Duty:Justin Weiss

As you may or may not have noticed, RPGamer's staff changes from time to time. As a former newsie, I've seen people in my department come and go without any loyal fans. Well, that ends now, because tonight we present RPGamer's first All-Newsie Roundtable. Now you can see what your favorite newsie really thinks about current events. Yes, you too can now identify with our normally objective newsies! Send 'em fan mail, it'll be fun. I promise.

Our topics tonight concerned multiplayer modes in both online and offline RPGs and the potiential for each. Next, we discussed those little-known or little-liked RPGs that have fallen through the cracks since the days of the NES, and we closed with a short discussion on those things companies could do to enhance the RPG genre. As always, if you have any comments or questions about anything discussed today, send an email to me at rtable@rpgamer.com, and I'll get back to you ASAP.

We're always open to applications to sit on our roundtable and talk about games with your favorite staff members of RPGamer; the link is on the sidebar to the right. Suggestions, comments, possible discussion topics, and anything else you feel like throwing my way are always welcome, and should be sent to rtable@rpgamer.com. Have a good week, and keep reading!

Topics of Discussion

The opinions expressed in the following topics are the opinions of these six staff members and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of RPGamer as a whole, nor the RPGamer staff members not participating in the roundtable.

How could multiplayer RPGs succeed?
Multiplayer RPGs saw release in the later days of the SNES, and have found some success online. But are the days of the offline multiplayer RPG dead?
Which old game do you think other people missed?
Everyone has their guilty pleasure or favorite obscure RPG, and our RPGamer newsies talk about theirs.
What could companies do to enhance the genre as a whole?
The RPG genre could use some innovation, so our roundtable staff borrows some ideas and comes up with some new ones that could revive the genre.
