If you thought the Pokémon craze was restricted to video games, trading cards, children's clothes, and Pop-Tarts, you'd better think again.
Starting this winter, Japanese cellular phone owners will be able to use the devices as Pokémon game accessories. Nintendo is developing a "Pokémon Crystal" adapter that will allow users to battle and trade their pocket monsters through their phones, providing further evidence that humanity has advanced as a species thanks to Pokémon.
The Pokémon Crystal adapters are currently set to ship December 4 in Japan. At this point, chances for domestic release are unknown, but look for Nintendo to use this experimental game expansion's Japanese reception as a barometer for whether to bring it to North America.
