Grandia II Receives Improvements on PS2
Grandia II

Ubi Soft's first public showing of scenes from the PlayStation 2 port of Game Arts' RPG Grandia II gave fans a chance to scope some differences between it and the original Dreamcast version. Although Grandia II on the PS2 will remain identical to the copy released on Dreamcast in regards to story, characters, voice acting, script, maps, and gameplay, some improved visuals and additional cutscenes have wormed their way in during the conversion process. In the cutscenes shown, two minor additions were readily apparent. During the game's opening and ending movies, a few new scenes had been added featuring Ryudo and a panoramic look at the final voyage of a certain "50/50 seafaring vessel."

Ubi Soft also took some time out to answer questions concerning Grandia II's PC port. Unlike the PS2 port, it appears that Grandia II for the PC will play 100% identically to the Dreamcast's version, although the game will take advantage of the PC's ability to run the game at higher resolutions.

Grandia II is planned to see release for the PlayStation 2 in the U.S. before Christmas, and in Japan early next year. The PC port will be released in the U.S. later this year with a Japanese release still uncertain at this time.
