Bandai, the company that loves turning anime into games, is at it again. This time, the company plans to make an RPG for the Play Station 2 based on Gainax's seminal anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion. The series focused on the 14 year old pilots of enormous humanoid robot attack units known as EVAs, and their struggle against mysterious enemies known only as Angels. The anime series has quickly become a classic, making characters such as Shinji Ikari, Asuka Soryu Langley, Misato Katsuragi, and the ever-popular Rei Ayanami well known around the world.
No information was available on the game's mechanics, graphics, or how exactly it would relate to the series it was based on. Bandai did not say when the game might be finished, though indications are that the game is in an early stage of development. Whether or not the game will make it out of Japan is anyone's guess, though the series has a large enough following among anime fans in this country to make it plausible.
