Super Robot Taisen Delayed

With the console's future fading into the sunset, new PlayStation releases are coming fewer and farther between. Banpresto, publishers of Super Robot Taisen Alpha Gaiden, didn't help matters today when they announced that the release date of that game will be pushed back one week. Previously slotted into a March 22nd release, the title will now reach Japanese stores on the 29th of that month. Fortuitously enough, the game will retain its previous retail price of 6980 yen. Meanwhile, the release date of the game's special edition will now match the normal edition. For 9800 yen, the game will come with special illustration boards, a binder, and a memory card case.

Super Robot Taisen is the latest in a series that takes robots from various unrelated anime series and pits them against each other in what can best be described as a loose plotline. The story in Super Robot Taisen takes place in the aftermath of the Valmer war, which occurred in the previous game in the series. Featuring adjustable skill levels that change as the player's ability goes up or down, as well as a battle system based on teamplay, it is easy to see why previous games in the series sell very well in Japan. That said, there is no real expectation of a North American release.
