More Details on the Pok mon Card Reader

Pokémon continues to maintain control of the console market and it shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Currently, over 74 million units have been sold worldwide, and over 100,000 Pokémon games are sold every week, proving that the phenomenon continues to roll. While there were no Pokémon titles specifically mentioned at the press conference, Nintendo's press pack had all the latest details on their most popular franchise ever.

More details on the Pokémon card reader were revealed. Tentatively named "Pokémon Card-e-Reader", it is designed to work with Pokémon Trading Card Game. The latest version of the Pokémon TCG cards, called "Card-e", contain special bar codes for this reader.

The bar codes can only hold up to 3,360 bytes of text, images and sound bits. However, Nintendo clains this is enough to hold short game programs. This new technology will help RPGamers experience the card game in ways previously impossible. No release details were fiven, but stay with RPGamer for the lastest Pokémon news.
