Final Fantasy XIV has followed a weird road over the past few years. After launching as a dismal failure way back in 2010, it stagnated for three years before being rebuilt and relaunched as A Realm Reborn in 2013, and quickly became one of the most popular MMOs around. Two years since its relaunch, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received its first full-fledged expansion this year: Heavensward, breathing new life on the world of Eorzea.
Heavensward introduces a whole bunch of new ways for Eorzeans to play together, from new Free Company activities like building an airship, to a slew of exciting new dungeons to explore over the course of the brand new story. Three new jobs help spice things up and add new dynamics to the usual group makeups. The new primal and raid fights definitely stand out, however, as the pinnacle of Heavensward's multiplayer experience. While there are, unfortunately, not very many of these yet, they are all terrifically crafted and exciting to take part in. The epic final encounter of the expansion's main story is sure to tantalize any Final Fantasy fan.
