Indie Update: Twentieth Edition

Indie Games

We return with the twentieth edition of our series designed to help RPGamer cater to the ever-increasing number of indie titles that our staff regrettably does not have the resources to provide full coverage to. The idea of this column is to quickly pass on the word about certain games to our readers that they might otherwise not be made aware of, and we hope both readers and developers find this useful.

This edition of our indie update column features the following titles: All Walls Must Fall, Cynical 7, Bonds of the Skies, Antiquia Lost, Ultimate ADOMLegends of Enchantment, and My Uncle Merlin.

Brief Updates:

  • Willy-Nilly Knight (5th, 19th edition) is now available for PC and Mac through Steam.
  • Hyakki Castle (18th edition) is now available for PC through Steam.
  • Left-Hand Path (18th edition) is now available for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift through Steam.

All Walls Must Fall

inbetweengames released a new trailer for tech-noir tactical RPG All Walls Must Fall. Funded through Kickstarter earlier this year, the game is currently available to play through Steam Early Access on PC, Mac, and Linux. A full release is expected in early 2018.

Cynical 7

Taco Pizza Cat Games has announced Cynical 7, a comical narrative RPG inspired by tobyfox's Undertale, and is currently looking for funding for the game through Kickstarter. The game follows Tris, an antisocial, failing developer who attends a party at the request of a friend. Those looking to try the game before deciding whether the back the campaign can try out a free demo. The developer is looking for $6,000 in funding by December 2, 2017, with the game initially planned for release in late 2018.

Bonds of the Skies, Antiquia Lost

Kemco has released two more of its titles on new systems. The first game is Bonds of the Skies (previously released for iOS and Android), which is now available for Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe priced at $9.99/€9.99/£8.99. The second game is Antiquia Lost, which follows its previous releases for Android, iOS, PC, Playstation 4, and PlayStation Vita with a release for Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe.

Ultimate ADOM

Team ADOM has announced Ultimate ADOM, a follow up to its long-in-development roguelike ADOM (Ancient Domains of Mystery). The announcement comes following the prerelease of version 3.0.0 of the original game, which has been in development in various forms since 1994 before being revitalised by a crowdfunding campaign in 2012 and was released on Steam in 2015. Ultimate ADOM is planned for release in late 2018, with releases planned for an extensive list of platforms with curious entries: PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Xbox, PSP, and Switch.

Legends of Enchantment

Enchanted Software, a studio set up by Microprose Europe founder Stuart Bell, has begun a Kickstarter campaign for new game Legends of Enchantment. The game is a fantasy action RPG inspired by classic literature such as Beowulf, Nordic and Arthurian legends, and The Faerie Queen. Enchanted Software is looking for $100,000 in funding by December 18, 2017. The game is initially planned for release for PC in late 2018.

My Uncle Merlin

The final Kickstarter campaign for this edition is for My Uncle Merlin. Developed by Pocket Mana, My Uncle Merlin is an adventure starring a young man named Eddie. Apprentice to his wizard Uncle Merlin, the pair explore the universe on a tower moved around by a dragon. Those looking to try the game before deciding whether the back the campaign can try out a free demo linked on the campaign page. The developer is looking for $22,000 in funding by December 15, 2017, with the game initially planned for release in July 2018.
