PlayStation 4 to Get Skyrim, Fallout 4 Mods

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition

When initially announced that the upcoming Special Edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and patch for Fallout 4 would bring mods to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the games, there was some confusion on when exactly that would be happening. Bethesda had recently claimed that Sony was not allowing the mod implementation on PlayStation 4, however, the company has now announced that mods will in fact be arriving on the console, though in a more limited format.

Skyrim will be the first title to get the mods. The limitation imposed is that any mods uploaded to the PlayStation 4 will not be allowed any external assets, only the ones found in the game itself. After work on Skyrim is done, Fallout 4 will follow suit with the same limitations. Both games will also take advantage of the PlayStation 4 Pro, which will add additional lighting effects for both games and render Skyrim in native 4K resolution.

The PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 will be receiving The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition on October 28, 2016. This remastered version of the title will receive enhanced visuals and contain all the game's DLC. PC players who own the base game and all the DLC will receive the Special Edition upgrade for free. Fallout 4 is currently available on all aforementioned platforms.
