Square Enix provided new details and media for two of its upcoming Dragon Quest spin-offs in Japan. The first set features Dragon Quest Builders and introduces the game's second continent, Rimuldar. This particular continent is suffering a plague and requires players to build a hospital to treat its inhabitants and explore its lands to try and find cure. The screenshots also show some of the monsters present on both Rimuldar and the game's first continent, Merkid. Dragon Quest Builders is due to be released in Japan on January 28, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

The second game with new media is Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3. The game is set in a world featuring varied terrains and where humans are a rare sight. There are a number of hidden mysteries in the world and the game's protagonist can use his Reactor device to uncover treasures and hidden paths. The protagonist also has the ability to ride various monsters, which can get him into areas he would otherwise not be able to. Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 is due to be released exclusively for Nintendo 3DS, but a release date has not been announced.
