Star Trek Online

Cryptic Studios, developer of Star Trek Online, has recently announced that the game will go free-to-play on January 17, 2012. This is not far off from Cryptic's initial window of before the end of 2011. Those who choose to subscribe get a monthly allowance of 400 Cryptic Points in their accounts. These points are used to purchase additional content for Star Trek Online such as costumes, additional ship designs, new player and bridge officer races, and account services. Free members will be able to access all of the game's sectors and missions and level-up as high as paid members. Some limitations for free players include two character slots instead of three, a smaller inventory, and a smaller credit storage limit (in-game currency). They will also have restrictions on in-game chat, forums, mail and customer service.

Star Trek Online was published by Atari. It initially launched for PC on February 2, 2010 for North America and on February 5 for Europe.
