Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days

The Kingdom Hearts series has been making the rounds lately, with games in-development or recently released for the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, Sony PlayStation 2, and cellphones. Square Enix confirmed this week that the in-development Nintendo DS Kingdom Hearts game, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, which is set for a Japanese release in February 2009, will be coming to North America.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days takes place between the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II, during the time when Sora was asleep and regaining his lost memories. The game follows Roxas during his days as a member of Organization XIII. Roxas and Organization XIII will journey to various Disney worlds, revealing the answers to certain mysteries such as the connection between him and Sora, the mysterious 14th member, and the reasons behind Roxas' departure from Organization XIII. Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days will also feature a new multiplayer mode, the first for any of the games in the series, which will be mission-based and separate from the single-player story. The game has not been rated or given a release window for North America yet.

As a reminder, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories for the PlayStation 2 was just released on December 2, 2008. The game is a full 3D remake of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the GBA, released on December 7, 2004. In Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, players control both Sora and Riku through a storyline which bridges the gap between Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. The title also has gameplay additions, more battles, and mini-games not found in the GBA version. Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories retails for $29.99.
