Star Ocean games have always featured a science-fiction setting. However, they have not contained many gameplay mechanics to actually make you feel as though you are in a sci-fi game.

That will change in the upcoming Star Ocean: The Last Hope. You will now control a spaceship that plays a pivotal role in the game. For example, your ship will function as a main hub. In it, you will be able to hone your fighting skills in the simulator, mix items together in the conference room, talk with your team members in the rec center, and more. The biggest departure from previous games in the series, however, will be the ability to fly to whatever planet you want.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope is expected to be released in March 2009 for the Xbox 360.
