Tales of Phantasia

Nintendo of Europe has announced that it will be releasing Tales of Phantasia for the Game Boy Advance towards the end of the first quarter of 2006. Though the title started a gaming phenomenon with its original release on the Super Famicom, spawning a series with more than a dozen entries, it has never seen release outside of Japan.

The first game in Namco's Tales series has been released on three consoles: first on the Super Nintendo (called the Super Famicom in Japan) in 1995; then Sony's PlayStation in 1998, with a rerelease as part of the PlayStation The Best series in 2000; and lastly, the Nintendo Game Boy Advance in 2003. RPGamer would like the thank reader Kat_Ears_Kahrain for the tip.

Update: IGN is reporting that Tales of Phantasia for the GBA will also see release in North America sometime in 2006. Keep your eyes on RPGamer for the latest developments to this story.

Second Update: Nintendo confirmed via a press release that it will be releasing Tales of Phantasia in North America on March 6, 2006. The company says of the game, "In this classic RPG with a real-time battle system, players take on the role of Cress, a young swordsman who must set out on a fantastic quest when his village is destroyed in mysterious circumstances."
