In a strategy meeting held earlier this week in Tokyo, game developer Koei gave media representatives a glimpse of the future, and a taste of the past. Things are looking up for the company, as its sales are at an unprecidented high. General sales and recording sales exceeded 10 billion yen ($91.83 million USD), and profit hit 2.2 billion yen ($20.2 million USD). These record highs are mainly the result of Dynasty Warrior 4 selling a worldwide total of 17.5 million units. Koei executives also revealed plans for three PlayStation Portable launch titles, but did not mention any names or genres.

The company also laid out a three step strategy for the future. The plan concerned marketing games to appeal to a female audience, develop new and exciting titles, and to cater to the needs of various territories to meet the needs of the respective market.

Koei's first PlayStation 2 MMORPG, Nobunaga's Ambition Online, currently has 52 000 users, among them 35 000 subscribers. Development on the PC version of the game is going ahead as planned, with beta testing commencing sometime next month. The final product should be available in late January or early February of next year. The game is not seeing good numbers, but Koei is hoping to turn a profit over the next few years.
