Namco has given confirmation it will be shipping roughly 480,000 units of Tales of Eternia, their highly anticipated PlayStation RPG. By comparison, this is only 20,000 units fewer than Sony's entire first shipment of the PlayStation 2. This news comes in addition to other recent news regarding the title.

As a clarification, the Tales of Eternia graphics engine will use 2D character sprites placed against 3D backgrounds. The game is slated to reach Japanese retailers next week, but a domestic release is still uncertain. Check out RPGamer's game coverage for further reading.
