Hudson has announced that production has completed on Grandia: Parallel Trippers, their upcoming GameBoy Color RPG. This statement comes earlier than expected, the title's production having been announced just last August.

The game's story is based on the original Grandia, which debuted on the Saturn and was made available for the PlayStation last year. In Grandia: Parallel Trippers, the characters from Grandia have been transported into a parallel world. The hero, controlled by the player, is an ordinary boy who has been transferred along with them. Together, the characters must explore this new world, collecting the keys which will allow them to return to their homes. Replacing the turn-based battle system of the original game will be a new "synthesis card battle" system. Not much is known about how this new system will work, except that it will somehow involve collecting cards and trading them with other players.

Grandia: Parallel Trippers is scheduled for a December 22nd release date in Japan, and will ship on a 32MB cartridge. The game will retail for 4500 yen (about $40). No information is currently available regarding the production of a North American version of this title.
