Namco, known for such games as Pacman, Tekken, and the "Tales" RPG series, has created a subsidary company devoted completely to RPG development, PS2 RPG development specifically. This new subsidary will be headed up by none other than Hirohide Sugiura, SquareSoft's own leading game creator, who left to take the position. The company will have about 50-60 employees, and their goal is to have games out as early as 2001. It is unknown at this time whether they will take over any existing RPG projects for Namco, or if perhaps they are planning development for any other platforms.
