Sources close to Square Co., Ltd. say Final Fantasy IX is well into development, and all indications are that it will arrive in Japan as soon as fall 1999 (could the 9th installment be released on 9-9-99?). This information corroborates previous rumors that the game is being worked on at the same time as Final Fantasy VIII.

    The sources also have stated that the title will be a Playstation exclusive, although Square itself has yet to make any official announcements concerning Final Fantasy IX.
