Versus Evil and Obsidian Entertainment made a joint announcement that the former would be publishing the latter's game Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. This is a change from the Obsidian's previous titles, Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, which were both published by Paradox Interactive. This announcement will have no effect on the game's release, which is still set to arrive in early 2018 for PC and Mac.

Deadfire takes players back to Eora where a new party of adventurers travel to the Deadfire Archipelago to hunt down a god. This sequel plans to expand and refine almost every aspect of the original, from streamlined combat to more in-depth companion relationships to increased player choice and interactivity.
