The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor

Today marks the release of Puuba's The Metronomicon: Slay the Dance Floor, courtesy of Akupara Games. Letting players take control of four masters of the Rhythmic Combat Arts, choosing from a total cast of eight, the game is played by entering timed button presses to match on-screen prompts, letting them cast powerful spells, bestow buffs on the party, and inflict some dance floor damage on enemies with their moves, in a bona fide dance-off to the death.

Featuring a full story mode, and such gameplay modes as freeplay, ranked side quests, two-player co-op, and a competitive dance battle arena, The Metronomicon hopes to ensnare fans of RPGs and rhythm titles. Available since last September for PC and Mac, the game is available as a digital console download for a suggested retail price of $19.99. With a variety of artists from the electronic realm contributing music to the soundtrack, two additional add-on song packs are available for purchase for $1.99, with even further add-on packs already planned for the future. A launch trailer, viewable below, accompanies the home console release. Those interested in putting on their dancing shoes can also check out Zach Welhouse's review of the earlier PC release.
