Developer Sloclap and publisher Devolver Digital have revealed details about their plans for online multiplayer in the upcoming action RPG Absolver, as well as plans for the post-launch updates to the game. Though players enter the world of Adal on their own, they will encounter both AI-controlled opponents and other online players. When they meet others, players can spar, engage in more competitive matches, or team up in groups of up to three for PvE combat.

Through the cooperative play, players may be able to learn moves from others, progress on their individual path, and gain experience that can be spent on one of six attributes. The game also features a fighting school mechanic, where advanced players can create their own school of combat that others can join. A palyer may mentor up to three others at one time in their created school.

In terms of updates for Absolver after its launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 29, 2017, the developer stated that it used feedback from testing and a closed beta to decide upon its first additions. The updates will focus on bringing a three-versus-three mode, ranked matches, and a spectator mode alongside new Combat Styles and moves for players’ Combat Decks.
