Indie Games

We return with the eleventh edition of our series designed to help RPGamer cater to the ever-increasing number of indie titles that our staff regrettably does not have the resources to provide full coverage to. The idea of this column is to quickly pass on the word about certain games to our readers that they might otherwise not be made aware of, and we hope both readers and developers find this useful.

This edition of our indie update column features the following titles: Garden Tale, Robothorium, Antiquia Lost, Asdivine Cross, Devoid of Shadows, and Tower of Time.

Garden Tale

Japanese indie developer Bonion Games's Garden Tale is a 2.5D simulation RPG planned for release by publisher Playism. A release date has not yet been announced but the game will be available for PC through Playism's website and Steam. The game tasks players with defending the Garden Kingdom from the invasion of the Zoo Empire in turn-based strategy combat. Scattered throughout the battle maps are Bonions, onion-like plants that explode when damaged enough, which players can use to their advantage. Different types of Bonions will explode in different ways.

Robothorium

Dungeon Rushers developer Goblinz Studio announced its latest title, tactical RPG Robothorium. The game is in development for PC, Mac, and Linux (and potentially other platforms) with a planned release date of mid-2018. Robothorium puts players in the role of an AI named SIA as they lead a robot uprising. The game will be playable at this year's Gamescom in Cologne this August.

Antiquia Lost / Asdivine Cross

Independent publisher Kemco has two recent English releases. The first game is Anitquia Lost, now available for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam priced at $9.99/€9.99/£8.99. The game follows a young man's journey to the capital with a girl made of slime. The second release is Asdivine Cross, now available for Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europe. Costing $9.99/€9.99/£8.99, the game is the latest title in the retro Asdivine series following Asdivine Hearts and Asdivine Hearts 2. Both games are also available for iOS and Android.

Devoid of Shadows

N-Game Studios and ArsLogica have released Devoid of Shadows for PC via Steam, priced at $17.99/€17.99/£13.59. The game is an action RPG with roguelike elements and crafting, featuring twenty-one levels each with its own quests. Devoid of Shadows is set in the vampire kingdom of Galidon, where the player is one of the heirs to the kingdom.

Tower of Time

Tower of Time is the upcoming debut RPG from Polish studio Event Horizon, and is available now through Steam Early Acces for $14.99/€14.99/£10.99. The game is set in the devastated world of Artara, with players selecting a party of four from seven available classes. Event Horizon promises that players will have freedom in terms of character growth and a story with no place for black-and-white morality. Combat is real-time, though players can activate a feature that significantly slows down time to allow more tactical actions.
