Australian-based developer Whale Hammer Games is about to release a brand-new RPG for the tactical turn-based crowd. Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire is a game set entirely during one fateful night in the life of twenty-year-old Tahira, princess of Avestan. When the evil Astral empire threatens her people, it is up to Tahira to lead her ragtag troops into guerilla warfare and repel the enemy.

Tahira: Echoes of the Astral Empire will take an estimated ten hours, taking place primarily in real time as the events of the night unfold. Tahira won't go it alone; by her side are Baruti, an Avestan general, mercenary power couple Claw and Hammer, who have a twenty-year-old debt to repay, and Iba, Tahira's loyal horse. Players must control up to twenty soldiers at a time in large-scale battles, all of which are designed as important to the story. It will also be possible to use the environment to your advantage, employing stealth, using cover, and pushing enemies off of cliffs and rooftops.

Tahira aims to marry a '90s comic book aesthetic with animated cinematics. The game is set for release on August 31, 2016, and will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux. An announcement trailer has also been released.
