Nintendo has released an extended look at the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles X. Recorded as the first part in a series of guides to surviving the world around New Los Angeles, the video is a primer on many of the game's features.

New Los Angeles is based on the present-day equivalent and serves as the game' hub. The city is divivded into four sections: commercial, residential, industrial, and the BLADE district. As a member of BLADE, players will spend most of their time here, developing and buying new weapons, organizing the party, and managing quests.

Being a BLADE member, players will join up with one of eight divisions, with each division providing a different passive buff. As players explore the game world, interacting with certain NPCs will offer quests, which come in four flavors. Story missions progress the story but can only be initiated by reaching certain parameters. Affinity missions strengthen relationships between characters. Normal missions serve to expand the world of the game. Finally, Simple missions can be found on the bounty board and cover basic hunting and gathering missions.
