Blizzard Entertainment announced the sixth expansion to its long-running MMORPG, World of Warcraft, at this year's Gamescom. Titled World of Warcraft: Legion, this expansion focuses on the return of the demonic Burning Legion, who are aiming to resurrect their leader, Sargeras, Ravager of Worlds.
Amongst the additions coming in Legion is a brand new hero class, the Demon Hunter. The Demon Hunter is a melee-based class with great agility and perception, plus the ability to transform into hellish forms. A new continent called the Broken Isles will also be available, where players will learn about a lost night elf civilisation and hunt down members of the Burning Legion.
New features include Artifact Weapons, legendary weapons that feature unlockable abilities and traits; an Order Hall, in which players can send NPC followers on missions to defend Azeroth against the Burning Legion; a new PvP Honor system; and an increased level cap of 110, with a character boost to 100 to be available to let players easily access the new content.
A release date for World of Warcraft: Legion has not been announced at this stage, however, Blizzard is planning for a beta test later this year. Media for the expansion featuring screenshots of the new zones, armour and artifact renders, and two trailers can be found below.
