The upcoming 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII will have a new Camera Mode feature. This mode will allow players to take a picture of what is on the 3DS screen by pressing the Start button. These photos can then be saved to the SD card. Players can also take commemorative pictures of their party and select the characters' poses. There will also be Photograph Quests available at the new Photographer Fort, where NPCs ask for pictures of rare monsters and hidden items.

Dragon Quest VIII 3DS will be released in Japan on August 27 of this year. No official announcement has been made regarding a western release of this game.
