Xenoblade Chronicles

During today's Japanese Nintendo Direct, the company unveiled new versions of its 3DS handheld console. The New 3DS and New 3DS XL feature an improved 3D screen, a faster CPU, NFC support, additional shoulder buttons, and an extra mini-analogue stick. It will be launched in Japan on October 11, 2014, with a North American and European release scheduled for 2015.

Nintendo also revealed that one of the games heading to the New 3DS would be a port of Xenoblade Chronicles. The release will not be compatible with earlier versions of the console due to requiring the faster CPU, and is expected to release in Japan in 2015. A release of the port for North America or Europe has not been announced at this time.

RPGamers can view the full 3DS-themed Nintendo Direct presentation below, which is entirely in Japanese and also features Super Smash Bros. on 3DS, Etrian Odyssey Untold 2, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Bravely Second. The New 3DS is unveiled around 14 minutes in, with the Xenoblade portion starting at around the 27-minute mark.
