Comic shooter hero Serious Sam has been showing up in some interesting side projects lately. He's even getting his own RPG courtesy of Dutch developer Vlambeer. Serious Sam: The Random Encounter contains plenty of bullet-spraying madness as Sam and his commandos take on armies of demonic creatures in a turn-based combat system.

The game promises retro graphics, an arsenal of Sam-style items such as Headless Kamikaze bait and the Sam Bomb, and an Endless Challenge high score mode. It will be available for the PC via digital distribution channels in mid-October, and will sell for $4.99.
