The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Gamers who've been impatient since The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass's Japanese release last month can finally relax. The game will be hitting shelves in North America on October 1. In his latest adventure, Link (along with a pirate by the name of Tetra) discovers a ghost ship. Calamity strikes and Link goes overboard only to wash up on the shore of a strange island. As he attempts to find Tetra, Link must collect sand for his Phantom Hourglass which will allow him to delve deeper into a "time-limited dungeon."

"Since 1987 The Legend of Zelda franchise has sold more than 52 million units worldwide," said George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications for Nintendo of America. "The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass stays true to the richness of the console Zelda franchise while introducing new controls that allow veterans and first-time gamers to become fully immersed in the adventure."

The game can be played entirely with the stylus, and a two-player battle mode will be available via local connection or Nintendo Wi-Fi. Also, lucky members of My Nintendo, the company's rewards club, who register their game and Nintendo DS and fill out a survey will be able to get a special stylus resembling a quill pen from Phantom Hourglass.

Phantom Hourglass will be Link's first foray onto the Nintendo DS and returns to the animated style of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. It was released late last month in Japan and sold over 300,000 copies in the first week.
