Square Enix has announced that it is bringing its classic strategy RPG series, Front Mission, to the DS. The series centers on futuristic warfare driven by political friction between superstates formed by Earth's nations merging together into different alliances. The wars are carried out by way of large human-piloted mechs known as Wanzers.

The DS will be receiving Front Mission 1st, a new, upgraded version of a 2003 remake of the SNES original. Exactly what all of the additions will be remains unclear, but the game will be receiving additions to its scenario, including new links to the series' most recent entry, Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. Also mentioned was the inclusion of a Wifi-based versus mode for the game.
