There aren't too many games that can claim to have tens of thousands of enthusiasts before they even launch, but CDV Software Entertainment's upcoming massively multiplayer online RPG, Neocron, is one of those games. The company officially announced the title today, after being in beta stage where it has accumulated 62,000 testers.

Developer Reakktor Media has promised to provide an enthralling experience that will allow gamers to live 700 years into the future. Set in the 28th century, the sprawling, post-apocalyptic metropolis of Neocron serves as the backdrop, where players can choose from four character classes: Psi Monk, Tank, Private Eye or Spy. The game promises the range of freedom that has become the staple of the MMORPG genre.

The publisher has lofty goals for Neocron. Leo Zullo, Marketing Manager, went so far as to say that, "It's technologically light years ahead of anything else on the market, and we think this will give people their first real taste of life in a parallel universe." Whether the game will live up to these words will be seen. No official release date has been announced, but we'll be sure to let you know when that changes.
