Baldur's Gate II for Mac goes Gold
Baldur's Gate II

It seems that Baldur's Gate is just about everywhere these days. The series has been extremely successful on the PC, and the soon-to-be-released Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the PS2 is looking to continue the trend, albeit with a modified approach to gameplay. Mac owners need not feel neglected, however, as word has come from Macplay that Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn has gone gold. Though no solid release date has been announced, the company stated that the game should be arriving at Mac vendors early in September.

Mac owners have largely been left out in the cold as far as games are concerned, but Macplay is expecting to set that straight. Mark Cottam, President of the publisher, has vocalized his company's commitment to bringing quality titles to the platform. He stated that Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, "is the first of many key product releases scheduled over the next 4 months for MacPlay and illustrates our ongoing commitment to Apple and its loyal gaming community."

The game was originally developed by Bioware, and has been converted to the Macintosh by MumboJumbo. Specific attempts were made to take advantage of the powerful features of the OS X and OS 9 operating systems. For previous news on the game, check out the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn page.
