Atlus has released Growlanser II: The Sense of Justice today in Japan. The PlayStation 2 RPG picks up immediately after the events of the original Growlanser and follows the adventures of Wein Cruz, a young knight, in his attempt to save three neighboring kingdoms from entering into another devastating war.

Those who played the orginal will appreciate the return of the mix of action, strategy, and traditional RPG elements that made Growlanser such a big seller in Japan. Improvements to the game include some tweaks to the combat system, including the ability of characters to charge up their magic attacks for more powerful attacks as well as new special attacks and increased weapon customization.

Hopefully developer Career Soft can score another hit with this sequel. Oddly enough, even before the first sales have been made, Atlus has announced their intention to produce Growlanser III for the PS2 in the near future. No word as of yet whether the Growlanser series will ever cross to North American shores.
