Sega Reassures Fans, PSO V.2 Still North America-Bound
PSO V.2

When Sega of America announced that the original July 10th release date of Phantasy Star Online V.2 was incorrect, Dreamcast owners were upset. When Sega then announced that they had yet to decide upon a release date, Dreamcast owners were furious. To many PSO fans, this news almost certainly meant Sega intended to cancel the game for the Dreamcast. Well, rest assured, that was not the case.

According to a Sega of America spokesman, PSO V.2 is "definitely coming to the U.S." Sega plans to announce more detailed information on their pricing plan for online play, plus to name a specific release date, in the next few weeks.

Possibly in light of this announcement,Gamestop has listed Phantasy Star Online V.2 for sale on their site. The game, priced at $39.99, is available for pre-order, with an ETA of November 1st, 2001. Of course, the pricing and release date are subject to change. A GameCube version of PSO V.2 is also in the works and is expected to launch alongside the system on November 5th.

Besides adding new levels, items, and weapons, Sega has tweaked the game's balance so that new players with low-level characters can become more easily immersed in PSO's world. Both hardcore and newbie fans should stay tuned to RPGamer in the coming weeks for further information on this amazing game.
