PS2 FF to use Sony network

Earlier this week, Sega released information about their new game, Phantasy Star Online, a new game which uses the modem of the Dreamcast to allow players to interact with each other from across the country.

In a recent and related conference, Square announced that the Playstation 2 versions of Final Fantasy will allow data sharing, along with other things, by using Sony's network to deliver games and multimedia by cable TV. Sony also plans to use normal phone lines to acheive the same effect.

Not much else is known about the PS2 Final Fantasy yet, which appears to be a brilliant counter to Sega's plan for the multiplayer RPG market, but only time will tell what other innovative features will be in the continuation of the series.
