Just days ahead of its planned Japan release of Black Rose Valkyrie, Compile Heart and Idea Factory instead announced a bit of unsavory news. The game, previously scheduled for release on June 30, 2016 has now been delayed almost a month to July 21, 2016. According to the developer, the delay was necessary to continue improving the game's quality.

On a positive note, Compile Heart released the game's opening cinematic shortly thereafter, featuring character profiles of the main cast. It is set to the theme song "Duality," sung by artist Sayaka Sasaki. 

Black Rose Valkyrie is planned to release as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. There has been no news of it making its way outside of Japan as of yet.
