Ys VIII

More details for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana recently came out of Japan, primarily focusing on a village that players will help build for the castaways left stranded following the Lombardia's sinking on the Isle of the Serien. The village is built using a combination of a driftwood and local resources, providing both a safe place for its inhabitants and facilities to help Adol in his exploration of the island.

The village's construction is overseen by Captain Barbaros and Dogi, while Adol ventures out and rescues those shipwrecked, bringing them to the village to incease its population. Each NPC brings their own skills to the island, offering more services and triggering events. Players will be able to plant crops in the new village, as well as chat with various party members. Expanding the village also helps Adol explore more parts of the island that are originally blocked off. This is done through support events, one example given is that while the three party members cannot move a fallen tree by themselves, with Dogi and other villager's aid the village works together to move it.

Information about new routes is provided by Little Paro. Little Paro is a parrot found on the island by Captain Barbaros that has been taught how to talk and serves as a messenger between Adol and the village. He has a rather mixed way of talking due to learning his vocabulary from the assortment of NPCs shipwrecked on the island.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is schedule for release in Japan on PlayStation Vita on July 28, 2016, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow in 2017. No announcement has been made at this stage regarding a western release.
