At a press conference June 7, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced the Wii's first Pokémon title, Pokémon Battle Revolution. The accompanying trailer showed two-on-two combat similar to Pokémon Stadium, albeit with significantly improved graphics.

While the game will feature DS connectivity, the extent of its online play remains hazy. Nintendo merely hinted at an "interesting" use of Wii's Wi-Fi capabilities.

Pokémon Battle Revolution is tentatively scheduled for a Winter '06 release in Japan. Whether it will tie in with the launch of the Wii remains to be seen.
