In a subtle move, LucasArts and Bioware have once again delayed the release of
Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) for the Xbox.
This highly anticipated game was previously scheduled for a spring release. However, on its official website for the
game, LucasArts is now listing its availability as July 2003 for the Xbox. There has been no change though in the
planned release for the PC, which is still on schedule for Fall of 2003.
For those who have managed to stay out of the loop regarding this game, KOTOR is a roleplaying adventure set in the
Star Wars universe some 4000 years before the onset of the film trilogy. During this period in the expanded Star Wars
universe, the Sith were a mighty force to be reckoned with and numbered in the thousands. Their conflict with the Jedi
of the Old Republic, who were equally numerous, spanned countless star-systems. The aim of KOTOR is to place the
player as a central and pivotal figure in the outcome of this conflict. This means that although generally geared toward
good, players will have the option to explore both the light and dark sides of the Force within the game and their choices will have
a vast impact on the outcome of the galactic conflict.
