First Look at Working Chocobo
Square

Square's first proper game for Bandai's handheld WonderSwan is Working Chocobo. Dubbed a "cultivation simulation," players will cultivate and develop wastelands. Using chocobos as your help, the player will come across icy mountains, dry savannahs and more, to make them habitable.

There will be different types of chocobos to help you in your cultivation. For example, the farmer type, or the mining type. Each chocobo has different uses, and the player will have to think how to apply them most efficiently.

Your quest to develop the land is not easy, of course. There are rival cultivators. Your opponents will be working on other lands at the same time, and you will have to sometimes cooperate with them, such as sharing resources.

Throughout the game, there will be various events lined up for you, to trouble or help you. For example, your vegetation might grow quicker than usual, or the bad weather ruins your crops.

Working Chocobo promises to be a light-hearted, but involving farming game, not unlike Harvest Moon. With a Japanese release of August 2000, one of Square's promotion tactics for the game is that it is made by the same team as the SaGa series.
