Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

Falcom has new information regarding combat for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana's secondary protagonist, Dana. Dana is a mysterious girl who appears in Adol's dreams. Dana is playable in these sequences, with the PlayStation 4 version of the game providing her with three distinct combat styles.

Dubbed the Style Change system, this grants Dana the ability to shift between her fighting styles at a moment's notice. The default is the Iclucian, or Water, Style. This style balances offense and defense. It requires a high amount of SP and can also be used to douse fires in dungeons. The Gratica, or Earth, Style is hard-hitting, heavy style. Its attacks are slow but have a wide range and and can easily stun enemies. Outside of combat it can be used to destroy weakened wallsand to move through otherwise restricted areas, such as areas where the force of the wind is too great. The final form is the Luminous, or Light, Style, which is a highly technical, speed-focused form. It gives the most opportunities for special attacks and outside of battle is used to see invisible objects and melt ice.

Ys VIII, originally released on Japanese PlayStation Vitas last year, will be making it's way to Japanese PlayStation 4s on May 25, 2017. There is currently no word on a localized release.
