inXile Entertainment has announced that it is readying Torment: Tides of Numenera for its first steps into public release. The beta for Torment will begin for select backers during the week of January 16, 2016 before it arrives on Steam Early Access on January 26, 2016.

The beta will cover the game's introductory sequence and include that game's first major city, Sagus Cliffs. The city is broken up into give districts: Circus Minor, Cliff's Edge, Caravanserai, Government Square, and the Underbelly.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is the spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, transitioning the setting to Monte Cook's Numenera, the pen and paper RPG that takes place on Earth one billion years in the future. There is currently no price for the game's Early Access release.
