Square Enix has revealed that the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released on April 22, 2014, although those who pre-ordered will be able to access the game early from April 11. The release of the PlayStation 4 version will be preceded by a beta test available to all PS4 owners beginning on February 22. PlayStation 3 owners will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 for free of charge starting April 11, but will not be able to switch back to the PS3 version afterwards.
As with the PC and PlayStation 3 releases, the PlayStation 4 version will also receive a Collector's Edition. The PS4 Collector's Edition contains the same items as in the other versions, plus a couple of additional in-game items that will also be given to current owners of the PC and PlayStation 3 Collector's Editions upon its release.
