Wii Gets Japanese RPG Love

Nintendo of Japan has revealed a little bit of information about two new RPGs for the Nintendo Wii. First is a new RPG from Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker titled The Last Story. So far the only thing known about this game is that Sakaguchi claims it takes RPGs in a new direction, though what direction that will be is unknown, and that the game's theme is focused on feelings shared by all of humanity. The Last Story is currently scheduled for 2010 in Japan, but no details about a North American release have been announced. The game's official Japanese site can be found here and features music from the game.

Last year's E3 silently brought us the announcement of Monado: Beginning of the World. That game has now been renamed as Xenoblade. Developed by Tetsuya Takahashi's Monolith Soft and headed up by Xenosaga's Satoru Takahashi, this title has been announced for a Spring 2010 release in Japan. At this point, we can only assume that the quiet E3 announcement from 2009 still means this game is slated for North America at some point. Currently featuring only a single piece of artwork and music, the Japanese site may be visited here.
