BioWare has unveiled the first expansion to Dragon Age: Origins, titled Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. The expansion takes place in a new area of Ferelden known as Amaranthine, and gives players the opportunity to rebuild the Grey Wardens and learn more about the Darkspawn.
Players will be able to import their original Grey Warden into the expansion, or they can create a new Grey Warden who hails from Orlais. The player's party will consist of five new characters plus one returning character from the original party. BioWare has stated that player choices from the original game will be reflected in the expansion, and that the expansion will continue to feature "complex moral choices".
Awakening will also feature some changes to core gameplay. There will be more customization options for characters, including new spells and specializations. There will also be a system for re-speccing character attributes. Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening is scheduled to release on March 16, 2010.
