Eve Release Pushed back to May 6th

Icelandic softwared developer, Crowd Control Productions (CCP), has announced that it will be holding off on the release of its new massive multiplayer online game, Eve Online: The Second Genesis, until May 6th. While commenting on the reasoning behind the delay, Reynir Hardarson, the art director for CCP, said, "Although the game is nearly finished, we felt it would be best to hold off an additional six weeks. This will allow us to fully optimize the performance of our new server cluster, implement features we have promised, and continue testing to assure the elimination of bugs that would interfere with the players’ ability to enjoy the Eve experience to its fullest potential." In addition, it was also commented that some of the delay could be attributed to the "longer than expected" length of time it took to set up the new hardware and software backbones for the game.

Over the coming weeks between this announcement and release, CCP has said that the major focus of its testing will be on balancing and tweaking various issues of the game. Also, for any interested gamers, CCP will be taking beta testers right up until the May 6th release date. More details and news from RPGamers official coverage can be found here.
