Atlus Announces Robopon Sequel
Robopon 2

Atlus has announced that it is currently working on a sequel to 2000's robot-collecting title, Robopon. Developed by Hudson Soft, Robopon 2: Ring and Cross Version is slated to arrive on the Game Boy Advance in the spring of 2002.

The story picks up where the original left off, with Cody setting off for a new land after becoming a legend on Purambo Island, and to the delight of Back to the Future fans everywhere it will involve time travel as an integral component. After being shipwrecked at the onset of the journey, Cody awakens in the land of Majiko, only to discover that the area is being overrun by a villian known as Maskman. While attending a tournament, he discovers that his rival Bisco may well have a role in the ongoing misery.

During the course of the game, Cody will pass through some interesting locales, including a circus town, and high-tech and crime-infested burgs. Several of Cody's friends from previous offerings will be turning up as well, including Dr Disc, Prof Don and his assistant Sam.

Of course, the Robopon are the real stars of the game, and this time around there are over 180 of the little mechanical critters to obtain. Gamers with friends should appreciate that the title will support 4-player gaming via a single cart. Additionally, using the Sparking System, two players will be able to contribute to the creation of unique Robopons, and battles will allow whole parties of them to be used simultaneously.

"The Robopon series takes a giant leap forward onto the Game Boy Advance," said the game's Project Leader, Akibo Shieh. "Robopon 2 not only improves on the graphics and sound in the original, but in every conceivable way. It possesses a much longer and challenging quest; the battle system has been refined to take advantage of all your Robopon and the new multiplayer modes will definitely engross the most jaded gamer. GBA owners looking for a Role Playing / collecting game need look no further than Robopon 2."

Robopon 2: Ring and Cross Version carries a suggested price of $39.99 and should be availble during the Spring. Check back with us as more info is released.
